SkeyDrone collaborates with Belgian police to secure airspace during summer festival season

Steenokkerzeel, 1 July 2024 – SkeyDrone is proud to announce its collaboration with several Belgian police districts, responsible for security at major music festivals. The Police Districts of Rupel, Lokeren and Limburg Capital Region will benefit from SkeyDrone’s state-of-the-art drone detection solution to keep the airspace above the festivals in their districts safe.

Belgium is known for its many music festivals and busy event summer. In recent years, the use of drones has increased significantly, posing potential risks to large public gatherings. This summer, festival-goers can enjoy an unprecedented level of safety and security thanks to SkeyDrone’s drone detection solution.

Key highlights of the drone detection solution include:

  • Real-Time Monitoring: SkeyDrone’s advanced technology provides continuous, real-time monitoring of the airspace around the festival sites, detecting drones and automatically distinguishing between authorised and unauthorised flights.
  • Comprehensive Coverage: The system ensures extensive coverage, safeguarding all critical areas of the festivals, from stages and camping sites to parking and entrance zones.
  • Immediate Response: Upon detection of any unauthorised drone activity, SkeyDrone’s system can instantly send alerts, enabling quick and effective response actions.
  • Pilot Location: With the automatic address translation function, the drone pilot can easily be located, enabling the immediate confiscation of illegal drones by the police.

“Safety is our top priority, and SkeyDrone’s expertise in drone detection significantly boosts our security measures,” stated Police District Lokeren’s Chief of Police, Dirk De Paepe. “With their support, we can provide a safe environment where music lovers can fully immerse themselves in the festival experience of the Lokerse Feesten.”

“We are committed to leveraging the latest technology to protect all attendees, staff and artists at Pukkelpop,” added Limburg Capital Region Chief of Police, Philip Pirard. “The integration of SkeyDrone’s drone detection solution ensures that we can address any unauthorised drone activity, maintaining the safety of everyone at the festival.”

“We are thrilled to contribute to such iconic music festivals,” said Hendrik-Jan Van Der Gucht, Managing Director at SkeyDrone. “Our drone detection solutions are designed to ensure that the focus remains on enjoying the music and festivities, without worrying about drone-related safety concerns.
